The United Blood Nation is an African-American street and prison gang from the East Coast of the United States, formed in July 1993 as a result of the merger of several gangs (including the Nine Trey Gangsters, GKB (G-Shine), Sex Money Murder, 183 Gangster Bloods, Valentine Gangster Bloods and Blood Stone Villains) to protect themselves from the Crips and Latin Kings.
The United Blood Nation compete with the Crips and have ties to the People Nation.
The UBN was the dominant gang on the East Coast during the 1990s, outnumbering rival Crips. The gang’s rapid rise to the top of the gang hierarchy was halted in 2001 when its founder was arrested and later sentenced to 50 years under the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act (RICO) and is currently incarcerated at the ADX Florence Federal Supermax prison in Colorado.
As a result, the United Blood Nation split, and there were reports of internal struggles between gang subgroups due to further criminal prosecutions of gang members under RICO.
In October 2020, five members of the United Blood Nation were convicted in Charlotte, North Carolina. The convictions were the culmination of a prosecution that charged 83 UBN members in the Western District of North Carolina with RICO conspiracy and other crimes.
